  • It only took me a few hours  to figure out how get a video to play so I had to publish SOMETHING to show off my newfound talent.  HA HA!!!  Anyway . . . this evening Kaitlyn saw some of my CDs sitting on the desk & wanted to listen to something.  Ever since she started Pioneer Club, she was interested in the song on the inside cover of her book, so I would sing it to her, but I think tonight was the first time she actually heard it sung by Amy Grant.  Maybe tomorrow I can show her this video.

I think after awhile, you sometimes just sing the words to a song & really don't comprehend what you are singing.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

    When I feel afraid,
And think Ive lost my way.
Still, youre there right beside me.
    Nothing will I fear
    As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

    I will not forget
Your love for me and yet,
    My heart forever is wandering.
    Jesus by my guide,
And hold me to your side,
And I will love you to the end.

    Nothing will I fear
    As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
Youre the light unto my path.

I really like how this song (the chorus is taken from Psalm 119) can be understood by 1st & 2nd Graders, but applies to my life as well.  In reality, tonight I thought I was teaching Kaitlyn something, but instead learned quite a bit along the way.

  • Why I Love Fog in the Winter

I woke up this morning and everything looked so beautiful covered in the layer of frost that came with the fog.  This time of year when the fog rolls in, everything looks so peaceful and ordinary things become picturesque.  Immediately I decided I'd take some pictures on the way to work.  I know when it's foggy out, most people dread the drive to work, but for me it was an opportunity to take pleasure in one of the few hobbies I find time to enjoy.

  • The Golden Compass

    A New "Children's" Movie

I have read about this and heard about this several times in the past few weeks and it really just makes me sad to think that this is targeted as a Children's movie and that it is being released during the Christmas season.

There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The Golden Compass".  The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman.

Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia".  His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.  Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism.  Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God."  He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children".  It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed."

While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story.  In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle  to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God.  Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake."  In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH.

Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of Jesus Christ. "The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season, and will probably be heavily advertised.  Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will  take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

I know I will not be taking my kids to see this movie and my plea to others is to do the same!
